Over de Basement Bigband

De band is in 1995 opgericht in Emmeloord. De naam vindt zijn oorsprong in het feit dat gerepeteerd werd in de kelder van het Muzisch Centrum aldaar. Vanaf 2006 is de band bovengronds gegaan en is het thuishonk MFA De Burght in Vollenhove. Daarna is de Basement Bigband jarenlang onderdeel van het Centrum voor de Kunsten Scala te Meppel geweest. Sinds 2024 zijn we een zelfstandige stichting.
De bigband bestaat uit 19 leden; 4 trompetten, 5 trombones, 5 saxofoons, piano, bas, drum, gitaar en een bezielende leider die iedereen in het gareel (probeert) te houden. De ledensamenstelling van de band is natuurlijk gewijzigd, maar de meeste leden zijn honkvast en al jaren lid.
